Cyanotype is a 19th-century alternative photography printing process. When the 2 part cyanotype solution is exposed to UV light it turns a deep shade of blue. I paint the solution onto natural upcycled textiles, create shadow with pressed local flowers and expose it to the sun to create my one-of-a-kind pieces. The possibilities are endless in its application and that’s what makes it so fun!

Beyond an obsessive amount of art classes in high school and some job shadowing in college, I’m mostly a self taught artist. I’ve been strongly influenced by my dad and his sisters and come from a long line of creatives at heart but not always by profession. My dad’s focus is carpentry, my aunt Anne’s focus was on stained glass and my aunt Paula’s focus was on charcoal.
My first “art business” was started in 3rd grade, where I brought my tacklebox of beads and made bracelets on the playground during recess.
I loved and have tried nearly anything that works my hands and gets me out of my head : Pottery, Jewelry, and Photography. Painting on wood has always been especially cathartic.
While I still dream of earring that big art degree - I’m embracing experimenting with different mediums, learning and making connections - between life’s other responsibilities. As someone much smarter that me said, “just do the thing!”

Yes! This is important. Because cyanotype pigments are sensitive to the environment these garments do require a bit of extra care.
Limited washes are best.
When washing stick to cold water, inside out if possible, phosphate free detergent and low to no heat. No bleach. Air dry is best.
Like your favorite pair of Levis, these will alter over time, as you expose them to different environments.
A simply hydrogen peroxide + cold water rinse will help immediately bring back the bright blue if they start to fade.
Care instructions are included with every order.

I go to matcha for caffeine, but I still love an iced decaf coffee with oat milk for the pure dopamine.
Both usually made at home but sometimes I treat myself to a local coffee house and in Milwaukee there’s no shortage of good stops.
This summer our neighborhood wine shop has been hosting a pop up coffee and matcha bar and it’s been a real problem - in the best kind of way!
Anyways, thanks for asking! Where are we going? 😉
